Introduction

From December 16th to 20th, 2024, the Methodist Rafiki Satellite Village hosted a transformative medical outreach programme spearheaded by the Kairos Development Mission Medical team, led by Apostle Dr. James M. Quainoo and Dr Steve Addai from Canada. The initiative was carried out in collaboration with the Trauma and Specialist Hospital (TSH) and the Winneba Municipal Hospital (WMH). TSH handled the medical surgeries conducted during the programme, while WMH addressed all dental cases, ensuring comprehensive healthcare coverage for the Effutu municipality.

Opening Ceremony:
The outreach began with a mini durbar on the morning of December 16th, 2024. During this gathering, the medical team outlined the objectives of the programme and shared a detailed schedule of the activities planned for the week. The durbar was graced by prominent dignitaries, including the Methodist Bishop of Winneba, the Chief of Gyangyanadze, the Superintendent Minister of Winneba, and several other notable personalities. Their presence underscored the importance of the event and lent it a celebratory yet purposeful atmosphere.

Screening Activities and Participation
After the opening ceremony, the medical team commenced screening attendees for various medical conditions. The turnout on the first day was overwhelming, highlighting the community’s eagerness to participate. Dr. Steve and Mrs. Maud Addai, the designated medical officers for day one, worked tirelessly to meet the demand. The first day’s activities extended late into the evening, wrapping up around 7:00 PM.
The momentum continued on subsequent days, with large crowds arriving to benefit from the free medical services. Additional medical personnel were deployed to manage the workload effectively, ensuring smooth and efficient operations throughout the week.
The programme provided screening for all 78 children and 41 workers of the Methodist Rafiki Satellite Village, as well as the students of the Rafiki Satellite School. Beyond these groups, an estimated 500 members of the general public received free medical attention. This figure excludes those who underwent surgeries or dental treatments at TSH and WMH, highlighting the expansive reach of the initiative.

Leadership Development School
In tandem with the medical outreach, KADEM also organized a two-day Leadership Development Conference for church leaders within the Effutu Municipality. This event was hosted at the Ebenezer Cathedral in Winneba by the Superintendent Minister of the Winneba Circuit of the Methodist Church Ghana. The sessions were both spiritually enriching and intellectually stimulating, providing attendees with valuable insights to strengthen their leadership roles.

Closing Events and Appreciation
The final day of the programme was marked by a celebratory gathering organized by KADEM for the Methodist Rafiki Satellite Village family and all the medical staff who contributed to the success of the outreach. The event featured a lively party, during which gifts were distributed to express gratitude to those who lent their support.
A significant highlight of the closing ceremony was the presentation of a donation of medical equipment and supplies including a hospital bed, wheelchairs, walkers, eye glasses as well as other assorted consumables to the Micah 6:8 Medical Centre, the primary healthcare facility at the Methodist Rafiki Satellite Village. This generous donation is expected to enhance the centre’s capacity to provide quality healthcare services to the community long after the outreach programme has concluded.

Conclusion
The December 2024 Medical Outreach Programme was a resounding success, leaving an indelible mark on the Effutu Municipality. From providing critical medical services to fostering leadership growth, the initiative exemplified the transformative power of collaboration and compassion. The contributions of all partners, volunteers, and participants ensured that this programme was not only impactful but also deeply rewarding for everyone involved.
