KADEM promotes the provision of healthcare awareness, service and management to the Black community and other ethnic minorities in Canada. We also mobilize medical missions to the developing world especially Africa.
KADEM advocates and facilitates the contextual development of Black youth in Canada and the developing world through education, mentorship and leadership coaching.
Founder and President
Apostle James Quainoo was originally trained as a petroleum geologist in Ghana and Norway. Before relocating to Canada where he studied at Regent College, Vancouver, he worked with the Ghana Petroleum Corporation. He has a Doctor of Ministry degree focusing on Leadership from Tyndale University in Toronto.
Before his retirement in July 2022, he served as an Apostle, senior pastor and the Western Regional Head of the Church of Pentecost Canada. He had earlier served as the National Secretary and a member of the National Executive Council of his church for over twenty years. He was in full time pastoral ministry for over twenty years as well as working with the youth and student ministry for more than forty years. He is a strong advocate for holistic and intercultural development and has facilitated vision conferences and mobilized medical resources from Canada to Ghana in partnership with Food for the Hungry, World Vision, Health Partners International and Samaritan’s Purse.
James is an experienced conference speaker (John Maxwell Certified), preacher/teacher, counselor, mentor, coach, and an expert on leadership development. He is married to Emily for over thirty-five years and together they have three grown children and three grandchildren.
Emily McKeown Quainoo was originally trained as a nurse/midwife from Korle-Bu teaching Hospital, Accra, Ghana, but transitioned to Early Childhood Educator with specialization in Children with special needs from Humber College, Toronto and McGill University, Montreal.
She is a seasoned teacher, marriage counselor, conference speaker and author. She has a special passion for children and the youth. Emily is married to Apostle James and together they have three grown children and three grandchildren.
Secretary
Dr. Gabriel Molley is a physician by training and holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in the Medical Sciences from the University of Ghana. Prior to moving to Canada, Dr. Molley worked in various hospitals in Ghana as a General Medical Practitioner.
Treasurer
His global experience includes working with management teams in Europe, the Far East and North America to design and implement an innovative development program. Charles served on the board of Farm Radio International (FRI), a not for profit organization focused on improving food security and health in rural Africa. He serves on the HR Program Advisory Council of Ted Rogers School of Management, Ryerson University.
He also served on the Editorial board of HR Professional Magazine (HRPA) and many other boards. Charles has an MIR degree from Queen’s University and an honors business degree from the University of Ghana Business School. He holds the CHRL and CHRE designations from the Human Resources Professional Association. He is married to Irene with two lovely girls.
Vice President
Joseph Ashun is one of North America’s leading subject matter expert in Enterprise Asset Management, Equipment Reliability & Maintenance Management. Educated in Ghana, Egypt, Canada and Australia. He has a master’s degree in engineering & Project Management from the University of Southern Queensland Australia.
He is a contributing Author to the Textbook, “Asset Management Excellence” (Optimizing Equipment Life Cycle Decisions). He is a licensed professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario Canada.
Joseph is the founder and CEO of Yorktown Business and Technology Consulting Inc., an Asset Management consulting firm in Mississauga Ontario. Before founding Yorktown he was the Senior Manager for Global Asset Management with Barrick Gold Corporation (The world’s largest gold producer) from 2006 to 2019.
Prior to joining Barrick in 2006, he worked as a Principal Consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC Canada) and IBM Canada from 1998 to 2006. Among Mr. Ashun’s clients during his time at PWC & IBM were Harvard University, Boston USA, Department of National Defense, Canada, British Petroleum UK, USA, Egypt & Trinidad, B.C Ferries Vancouver, Canada and New York State Department of Health.
Joseph is an Industry Advisory Board Member to Fiix Software a Toronto based Engineering software company, EAM Advisory Board member for Oracle Corporation in San Francisco. Joseph is an Elder of the Oakville Assembly of the Church of Pentecost Canada and lives in Mississauga. He is happily married to Dr. Mary Ashun (Principal of Ghana International School, Accra, Ghana) and they have three grown boys: Benjamin, Emmanuel, and Jonathan.
She is a graduate of the School of Medical Sciences, KNUST (Kumasi), completed residency training in Family Medicine at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Canada, obtained her fellowship in Women’s Health from the University of Ottawa in Ontario, Canada and holds an MSc. degree in Health Services Research from Erasmus University in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
Her research interests include Palliative and End-of-Life Care, Patient-Centered Care, Women’s Health, Mental Health and Global Health. Credentials:
Dr. Ekua Agyemang MBCHB MPH FRCPC is a specialist physician in public health and preventive medicine. She works as the Deputy chief public health officer for the government of Nunavut Department of health . She trained and worked in Ghana as a GP before moving to Canada for further education and residency at the University of Alberta.
She also holds a certificate in Advanced leadership and population health management from John Hopkins Bloomberg School of public health. She is the former president of Black Resident Physicians of Canada and serves on the board of Black physicians of Canada.
She is a clinical lecturer at the university of Alberta and teaches medical students and residents . As the deputy national leader of the COP women’s ministry, she is passionate about women living a transcendent life in all seasons of life. Ekua is happily married to Emmanuel with three blessed children.
She enjoys volunteering with her community and exploring the outdoors with family and friends when not working.
